Business and Enterprise North East (BENE) is a member of the Higher Level Skills Board and its mission is to help North East businesses to start, succeed and grow.
It aims to achieve this by providing entrepreneurs and businesses with easy access to the best possible expertise from the public and private sectors.
It has simplified access to business start-up and integrated mainstream skills provision into the brokerage service.
Its brokerage service ensures that the needs of a business can be analysed in general terms and in relation to skills development in a comprehensive and seamless way.
This leads to the compilation of action plans that introduce the appropriate service - ultimately enhancing a customer's higher level skills capacity.
This brokerage to higher level skills requires a comprehensive and systematic relationship with both customers and knowledge-based institutions across the region.
BENE works very closely with business and entrepreneur-facing departments of universities and colleges to ensure that its advisers have the right level of knowledge and that academic departments understand how the Business Link brokerage model works.
Last year BENE worked with more than 34,000 business customers in the North East and this represents a huge opportunity for the introduction of an array of excellent services from both higher and further education institutions.
