Participation and Progression
If we are to achieve our goals for the North East, it is vital that we support and inspire all of the region’s young people to participate in learning and provide progression routes that allow them to fulfil their potential.
Hence, the Regional Economic Strategy has set, as two of its key objectives, the need to:
- raise aspirations and attainment, particularly among our young people
- shift the balance of provision of intermediate skills training from level 2 to level 3 and seek to increase significantly the number of people qualified to level 4 and above.
This section therefore aims to outline the current initiatives to improve participation and progression in learning.
At present, this section covers the following topics:
- Not engaged in education, employment and training
- Progression to Higher Education
- Widening participation in Higher Education
- Funding for Staying in Learning
- 14-19 Local Prospectuses
- IAG
