Christine trained as a Business Studies teacher and started her career in South Shields teaching Business and ICT.  From the beginning of her career she has had a keen interest in vocational programmes of study and became responsible for setting up alternative curriculum models within her school.  This work gave her the opportunity to work with partner organisations, link with industry and develop an understanding within the curriculum of the need to link education with employment.

In 2001, she took a secondment to work on the EiC initiative of Co-ordinator for Gifted and Talented Education across South Tyneside Borough.  Whilst in this role, Christine followed the KS3 National Strategy Teaching and Learning Training for the Foundation Subjects.

In 2003, Christine was appointed as Deputy Head Teacher (Curriculum) at Harton Technology College. Harton was designated as a High Performing Specialist School and was given second and third specialisms in Modern Foreign Language and Applied/Vocational Studies in 2007.  Her responsibilities within this role include: curriculum development, specialist college status, BSF, and the planning of a new sixth form via the Applied/Vocational specialism.  Christine is a member of the 14-19 Partnership in South Tyneside and has worked on the development of the Diploma lines across the Borough.
