Chris Cottam

Senior Inspector in Raising Achievements, Gateshead Council, representing the Gateshead 14-19 Local Partnership

Chris Cottam began teaching in Telford in 1976.  She has worked as a headteacher in both Primary and Middle (deemed secondary) Schools.

More recently her worked has involved working for Local Authorities, first in North Tyneside as Secondary Strategy Manager, and since 2005 as Senior Inspector for secondary schools in Gateshead. Her current role is diverse and involves all aspects of school improvement, including working as a school improvement partner in the secondary and primary sector, inspection, professional development and leadership of 14-19 strategy.

She represents the Education Improvement Partnership, which acts as the 14-19 partnership in Gateshead.
