Gary Groom
Principal, Redcar & Cleveland College, representing College Principals and the Redcar and Cleveland 14-19 Local Partnership
A graduate of Wolverhampton Polytechnic (University) in 1989, Gary commenced his twentieth year in Further Education in Autumn 2007. Some sixteen years of his experience in Further Education to date has been in its management with 12 of those years in Senior Management.
Gary was appointed to the role of Principal of Redcar & Cleveland College from July 2005 and is currently working on the delivery of a new £26M Redcar & Cleveland College. The new single site college in Redcar is an exciting project including the integration of renewable energy technologies. (This may become the first ever site for the application of full scale fuel cell technology in the UK.)
A member of the Tees Valley FE College Principals’ known as the ‘FE Plus’ group, Gary is also one of two college Principals representing Further Education across the whole of the North East region on the Regional Commissioning Board for education and training provision for 14 – 19 year olds.
