Gerard Moran
Associate Headteacher – Durham Association of Secondary Heads, representing Headteachers and Durham 14-19 Local Partnership
Gerard Moran started his career 1978 as a secondary music teacher in Leeds. He became Headteacher of St Benet Biscop High School in Northumberland in 1996. Gerard is currently on a two a year secondment working as an Associate Headteacher for the Durham Association of Secondary Heads and Durham Local Authority. His substantive post is headteacher of St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre in Bishop Auckland.
In September 2008 He will become Executive Principal of St John’s thus enabling him to carry on his work with other schools whilst continuing to play an active leadership role in a large comprehensive 11-19 school. Gerard, who is committed to improving education for all young people through professional collaborative practice, serves on numerous local regional and national educational groups.
