Kate Brown
Project Manager, Middlesbrough Council, representing the Middlesbrough 14-19 Local Partnership
After graduating from London University in 1971, Kate Brown began her teaching career at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. After caring for her two young children during the 1970’s, she resumed her career in 1981 in the North East of England as a lecturer in a sixth form and then a further education college. In 1994, Kate became a Director at Longlands College in Middlesbrough and subsequently a Vice Principal in the newly merged Teesside Tertiary College.
After supporting a further merger in 2002, she became Vice Principal in the newly formed Middlesbrough College, responsible for student support services and marketing.
In 2004, she left full-time employment and has worked in Middlesbrough Council on a part-time basis as the Learning Partnership Manager and also the 14-19 Area Wide Inspection Plan Manager. Kate has considerable experience in Secondary and Tertiary education particularly facilitating partnership working and collaboration to deliver the Governments new agendas.
