Steve Rutland
Deputy Director of Children's Services and Head of Education, Skills & Innovation of North Tyneside, represents Director of Children's Services
Steve Rutland was born in Middlesbrough and educated at Middlesbrough High School. He graduated from Durham University with a B.Ed and completed a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management at Northumbria University. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Steve’s career began as a teacher in a comprehensive school. He moved on to be head of faculty in a general FE College and then vice-principal of a sixth form college. He worked for 7 years as a part-time OFSTED and ALI inspector alongside these roles.
He is currently Deputy Director of Children’s Services and Head of Education, Skills and Innovation at North Tyneside Council. This includes responsibility for all primary and secondary school improvement functions, 14-19 and adult learning and associated student and learning support services.
