Priorities
To ensure the greatest impact and add value to local activity, Commission members are concentrating on a small number of key areas.Following consultation with 14-19 Partnerships and other key stakeholders the following priorities were agreed:
- To facilitate effective communication between stakeholders, 14-19 local partnerships and other groups with an interest in 14-19 activity.
- Strengthen engagement with employers – support employers and the ‘world of work’ to engage more effectively with young people to further develop the skills base of the region.
- Improve Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and links to the RES through practical relationships between local delivery of 14-19 and regional partners.
- Support the development of a clear and comprehensive curriculum offer for 14-19 year olds, which will encompass Diplomas and the 14-19 entitlement.
- Improve participation and reduce numbers of young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)
- Engage and establish mechanisms to enable young people to have direct dialogue on 14-19 issues at a regional level.
