Engaging Young People Sub-Group

The Commission has established a Youth Advisory Board to inform the work of the Commission from the perspecitve of a young person in the North East.  This initiative is being taken forward by a consortium involving West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust, Stockton Youth Service and the Regional Youth Work Unit.

Progress to date has included the appointment of two Youth Co-ordinators, Laura Wright and Neil Burke, who will lead the formation and operation of the board.  Laura and Neil have now held two introductory events to give young people from across the region the opportunity to be part of the board and shape its structure.  Both events were extremely well received, with several young people agreeing to become members of the board and others volunteering to use their talents in other areas of the project, for example the development of a virtual 14-19 portal which we are in the process of designing.  

We want to ensure that the board involves and is supported by a wide cross section of young people from across the region.
