The North East’s Regional Employability Framework (REF) hosts four conferences to identify ‘REF Champions’
Skills North East’s Regional Employability Framework (REF) was launched by the RSP in December 2006 and has been further developed by a group of both regional and sub-regional partners.
As part of the REF Communications Plan, Partnership Conferences were held in all four sub-regional areas (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Tees Valley). These half-day events were attended by over 200 people from a wide range of groups, including Other Government Departments, Local Authorities, LSPs, Providers, Employers, Private and Third Sector representatives. Guest speakers included employers and sub-regional leaders in the employability agenda.
The REF will provide a single accessible network of support that will meet the needs of both employers and individuals.
These events provided an excellent opportunity for delegates to receive the latest information on how it is developing, and how REF should be included in local partnership strategies and activities across the region. They were also an opportunity to understand and question how implementation of the REF will change the way that agencies plan and co-commission resources and provision at all levels across the region, in the move towards an Integrated Employment and Skills Service.
As part of these events we identified a network of enthusiastic volunteers to become ‘REF Champions’ across the region.
