Raising Awareness of the REF
In June 2007, REF Partners delivered a presentation at the Welfare to Work Convention in Birmingham. This was well received, with individuals from both a geographical spread and a variety of organisations, invited to learn about and contribute to, discussion on what the REF will achieve.
Since then, numerous presentations have been given across the region, and also to national groups, other regions etc. to raise awareness of and promote the REF, as well as to gain support from key stakeholders.
The level 1 and level 2 framework models, are being used to present current thinking to key stakeholders within and beyond the region. These presentations are being delivered by REF Champions.
REF Partnership Conferences were held with each of the sub-regional areas between November 2007 and March 2008. From these events we have established a network of REF Champions within each local area (LSP) plus regional representatives from all major stakeholders and partnerships. REF Champions will cascade the REF principles with their own organisations and external networks. A PowerPoint presentation and key points for speakers are available to support this work.
The REF Strategy Group included a broad spread of key local and regional partners to help them develop some of our key initial objectives. Workshops held at Ramside Hall in June and November 2007, identified key areas for activity, and working alongside consultants, New Skills, developed the REF Employer Engagement Model.
