The WorldSkills Competition is the biggest skills competition in the world and is held every two years in one of its member countries.  Its sets world class standards in over 40 skill categories ranging from cabinet making to web design.

The North East Regional Skills Partnership sees WorldSkills 2011 as a wonderful opportunity to raise the status of vocational education and training and to permanently change public attitudes in our region.

The partners know how important it is to keep everyone up to date with progress towards delivering the 2011 event but we also need to give wholehearted and continued backing to competitors, employers and the army of volunteers who are working towards improving upon the UK’s current ranking of 11th.   Towards this end the partnership will write up a short strategy to ensure that the NE region’s people get maximum benefits from WorldSkills Japan 2007 and WorldSkills Canada in 2009.
